Job Title: Senior DevOps / DevSecOps Architect

Location: Home-based or as needed (occasional travel to the UK required)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting To: Head of Programme Delivery
Base Salary: £120,000 per year + performance-based bonus

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced DevOps professional to join a high-impact project and take on a key role in shaping a cutting-edge Azure-based insurance platform. In this greenfield environment, you’ll have the freedom to design and implement workflows, tools, and automation pipelines from the ground up—ensuring you have a defining influence on the platform’s technical landscape.

Our client is beginning the first phase of an ambitious rebuild of their insurance platform, hosted on Azure. This is a rare chance to join the project at inception, define infrastructure, create tooling, and establish engineering standards for a secure, API-first digital ecosystem.

The first product will focus on a consumer-facing quote & bind journey and/or a B2B referral platform. All services will be API-driven, and development will be securely outsourced. As such, the foundation of infrastructure and DevSecOps needs to be strong from the outset.

We’re seeking a senior engineer who thrives in dynamic, hands-on environments and is eager to take ownership of architecture, workflows, and developer enablement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement DevOps pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions

  • Build and maintain secure cloud environments for development, UAT, and production stages

  • Define RBAC policies and control credentials for distributed development teams

  • Deploy and manage Azure Key Vault, App Insights, Log Analytics, and Redis services

  • Provide expertise on the best Azure hosting models (Functions, Container Apps, App Services)

  • Establish governance for Swagger/OpenAPI-first API lifecycle management

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code templates (ARM/Bicep/Terraform)

  • Create onboarding documentation and runbooks to support a growing outsourced engineering team

  • Collaborate with security, product, and external developers to ensure seamless integration

  • Advocate for and enforce DevSecOps best practices across all environments

    Ideal Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of experience in DevOps, DevSecOps, or cloud architecture, preferably within regulated industries

  • In-depth knowledge of Azure Functions, API Management, and secure deployment practices

  • Proven experience in setting up and managing secure, multi-environment DevOps tooling

  • Expertise in Swagger/OpenAPI-first design and CI/CD pipeline integration

  • Experience supporting or enabling outsourced development teams

  • Familiarity with the insurance, fintech, or other regulated sectors is advantageous

  • Strong skills in documentation, onboarding, and communication with stakeholders
