Howdens Joinery have an excellent opportunity to join our Digital Project team as a new Agile focussed Senior Delivery Manager. Responsible for the overall management, control, and delivery of business-critical software development projects utilising agile software development practices.

Based at our office in Raunds, Northamptonshire with home working and some travel expected to our other sites when necessary

What will I be doing?

  • Direct and manage team members, vendors, and external suppliers to deliver the required quality within cost and time constraints, ensuring efficient and effective project execution
  • End-to-end management of value stream initiatives with a lifecycle of between 3 to 18 months with multiple deployments during this time.
  • Have between 5 to 30 resources working across different competencies (both internal and external parties).
  • Own a budget ranging from £50k to £4m.
  • Formulate and gain acceptance for annual Value Stream budgets to secure the necessary resources, ensuring that agreed work programs are achieved, and financial targets are met.
  • Recruit, motivate, and develop the team to enable them to reach their full potential, ensuring that business and personal objectives are met.
  • Relentlessly driving and shaping project delivery practices through continuous improvement initiatives

    What we need from you

  • Leadership of software development projects utilising agile software development practices.
  • Over 5 years of project management experience and having obtained a PM accreditation i.e. Prince2 and / or APM
  • Experience of managing £1m+ budgets.
  • Hands-on and recent exposure to Microsoft Project.
  • Previous exposure to enterprise IT solutions and services, including infrastructure, software development and cyber security
  • Articulate with strong influencing and coaching skills.
  • Analytical with the ability to interpret and explain data to a diverse group with high variations in financial knowledge.
  • Numerate, tenacious and commercially astute with a strong general technical knowledge.
  • Ability to respond to changing demands and priorities and align teams accordingly.
  • Results-driven and takes pride in delivering to deadlines

    Applicants with Agile qualifications such as AgilePM are advantageous as is

  • Previous line management experience.
  • Experience of working for a B2B organisation.
  • Experience of managing both CAPEx and OPEx budgets.
  • Experience of MS Project Online (AKA Project Server)
  • Experience of Azure DevOps or similar (such as JIRA).
