JAM Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading manufacturing business based in Telford in the search for a Purchasing Manager to join them on a permanent basis at a time of exciting business change and ambitious plans for growth

Our client manufacture a comprehensive range of aluminium foil wrinklewall and smoothwall containers used throughout the food industry.

As a global leader in their field, they supply superior, lightweight, robust aluminium foil packaging for food for many leading retail brands as well as foil containers for wholesaler and distributor markets worldwide.

The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for all aspects of procurement & purchasing, of all goods, materials and services. Ensuring that the company's operational needs are met, in line with their sustainable procurement guidelines, considering price, quality and delivery, ensuring continuity of supply.

You will be responsible for:

Managing the procurement & purchasing of all production & non-production materials and services.
Managing customer contracted & non contracted metal demand & purchase contracts, with all group & non group suppliers.
Managing stocks of all purchased goods in line with company objectives and report accordingly.
Managing all group & non group metal scrap contracts.
Demand analysis, purchase order generation and expedition.
Supplier liaison and management, maintaining clear and timely lines of communication & supply.
Managing all supplier contract negotiation & approval, maintain all documentation & proactively assess renewal requirements.
Managing tender processes by gathering data, collating quotations, and arranging sample trials where applicable.
Leading development and implementing processes to evaluate and report on supplier performance.
Supporting SAP purchasing implementation.
Driving cost savings and regular benchmarking exercise to ensure best prices obtained.
Managing and supporting direct reports.

You will have:

Extensive experience in Purchasing, Procurement & Supply Chain, within a manufacturing environment.
Fast-paced manufacturing / FMCG environment (highly desirable)
Supplier Portals experience (desirable)
SAP experience (desirable)
CIPS Qualified or working towards (desirable)
