Ncounter are supporting a major Defence initiative, and we are looking for a Platform Solution Architect with strong AWS expertise and a track record delivering complex cloud platforms in secure environments. This is a hands-on architecture role suited to someone who can shape technical strategy, guide Agile teams and work confidently with senior customer architects across demanding Defence programmes.

You will help design and lead the delivery of modern cloud platforms that are scalable, resilient and aligned to strict nonfunctional requirements. You will influence key architectural decisions, collaborate closely with engineering and security teams and ensure delivery teams are working with clear direction. This role suits someone who enjoys solving real world problems, shaping cloud strategy and supporting teams through the entire delivery lifecycle.

You will also encourage continuous improvement, introduce new ideas and support the evolution of platform standards. Strong communication skills are important as you will be working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across supplier and Defence organisations.

Required skills and experience

• Recent and relevant Defence experience across complex secure programmes
• Strong AWS platform expertise covering cloud native design, automation and operations
• Experience designing scalable, secure and cost effective platforms in public cloud
• Ability to lead and mentor engineers within Agile teams
• Strong background in DevOps practices, CI and CD, version control and automation tooling
• Experience integrating PaaS and SaaS services into cloud platforms
• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and support senior stakeholders
• Hands on experience debugging and supporting distributed systems in production
• Experience with at least one scripting language such as Bash, Python, Go or Powershell
• Active SC or DV clearance, with DV preferred
