We are currently looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team.
Role Overview
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and lifecycle support from conceptual design to production handover, you will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity, environmental resilience, and manufacturability of our products. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of Radar technology in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, including carbon fibre structures, RF & waveguide components, lattice & monotube Towers, converted ISO containers and mounting structures.
• Generate detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings in accordance with industry and company standards.
• Generate and maintain Engineering and manufacturing Bills of Materials (BoM’s).
• Conduct structural, and vibration analyses to ensure robustness and compliance with environmental standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810, DEF STAN).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, RF, and systems engineering to deliver integrated solutions.
• Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are cost-effective, producible and meet quality standards.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation activities including design iterations based on test results.
• Maintain configuration control and contribute to design reviews, DFMEAs, and project documentation.
Essential Requirements
• 5 Years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline within industry.
• HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Proficient in 2D / 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, or similar).
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles including tolerance analysis, material selection, and design for manufacture/assembly (DFM/DFA).
• Experience with environmental qualification standards and ruggedised electronic packaging.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive and problem-solving mindset, a can-do attitude.
Desirable Skills
• Experience in defence, aerospace, or Radar systems industry.
• Knowledge of FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation) and thermal management techniques.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD software.
• Understanding of EMC shielding and RF containment considerations.
• Electrical design appreciation.
