We are seeking a skilled and reliable Dock Worker to join our client's team based at Immingham Docks, one of the UK’s busiest ports. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo, while adhering to industry standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Cargo Handling: Safely load, unload, move, and secure cargo, including containers, bulk cargo, and other materials, following company and port procedures.
Equipment Operation: Operate dockside equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and other machinery as required.
Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct pre-operation checks on equipment and report any issues or damages to the appropriate personnel.
Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations, including IOSH Cargo Handling standards or equivalent.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with a team of dock workers, supervisors, and logistics personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Documentation: Accurately complete and maintain records of cargo movements and handling activities.
Work Environment: Perform duties in outdoor conditions, including exposure to varying weather conditions.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

IOSH Cargo Handling Certificate / CHIPS (Cargo Handling Improvement Program Scheme) or an equivalent recognized qualification.
Previous Experience: Proven experience in dock work, cargo handling, or a related field.
Physical Fitness: Ability to undertake manual handling tasks and work in a physically demanding environment.
Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
Team Player: Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow instructions and procedures with precision.
Flexibility: Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by the port’s 24/7 operations.

Desirable Skills

Valid forklift or crane operation certification.
Experience working within a port or maritime environment.
Knowledge of cargo-specific handling procedures (e.g., hazardous goods, oversized loads).
