Technical Lead – Digital Engineering (Full Stack + Cloud + Consulting)

You understand how digital gets built and how it gets stuck.

You will work with clients from idea to deployment, shaping platforms that scale and teams that deliver. The work sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud architecture, and consulting, solving technical problems that matter and leading people who take pride in doing things properly.

You will guide a multidisciplinary team through design, build, and delivery, bringing technical depth, clear thinking, and the calm authority that comes from real experience.

What’s in it for you

Substance over noise: Work on large-scale digital transformation projects where your technical judgement genuinely shapes outcomes.
Technical autonomy: Influence architecture, tooling, and delivery without layers of sign-off.
Range: Projects span full-stack builds, cloud migrations, and modernisation programmes across AWS, Azure and GCP.
Collaboration that works: Partner with designers, engineers, and strategists who value clarity over jargon.
Growth: You will have the room to deepen your leadership, mentor others, and move further into architecture or solution ownership if you choose.

What you’ll need

Strong full-stack development background with JavaScript and TypeScript, and ideally Python or Java.
Experience leading Agile delivery teams in complex, client-facing environments.
Practical understanding of modern cloud architecture across AWS, Azure or GCP.
Solid grasp of DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform, Kubernetes, or GitHub Actions.
Ability to move comfortably between technical detail and big-picture thinking.
Experience contributing to pre-sales or solution design, shaping estimates, proposals, and client presentations.
Excellent communication: able to explain, influence, and build trust across both technical and business audiences.
UK citizenship and eligibility for SC clearance are essential for this role.

We don’t expect perfection. If you bring depth, judgement, and a genuine interest in making technology deliver better results, we’d like to hear from you.

About the client

Our client is an established innovation and transformation consultancy that blends strategy, design, and engineering to help organisations adapt and grow.

You will join their Digital and Data practice, a group known for taking on technically demanding projects across sectors such as energy, healthcare, government, and financial services.

It’s a culture built on professionalism and trust. People are treated like adults, encouraged to think independently, and supported to do work they’re proud of.

Package and benefits

Salary: £80,700 to £107,600 plus 15% bonus and £4,460 travel allowance
Private healthcare for you and your family
25 days’ holiday plus a half day on Christmas Eve and the option to buy five more
Strong pension scheme and share options
Flexible benefits including cycle-to-work and charitable giving

Next steps

If this sounds like the kind of work where you would add value, apply or start a conversation. We are more interested in what you have actually delivered than how perfectly you match a checklist. This role requires UK citizenship and eligibility for SC security clearance

Why Cloud Computing Careers in the UK Are Becoming More Multidisciplinary

For many years, cloud computing careers in the UK meant roles for infrastructure specialists, system administrators, network engineers & software developers. Today, the picture looks very different. Cloud has become the backbone of digital transformation across industries — from healthcare to finance, education to government. With that reach comes new expectations. Cloud isn’t just about servers & storage anymore. It’s about handling sensitive data responsibly, meeting regulatory obligations, designing intuitive user experiences, communicating clearly with diverse stakeholders & understanding how people actually interact with complex digital systems. This means cloud careers are increasingly multidisciplinary, requiring expertise in law, ethics, psychology, linguistics & design alongside technical skills. In this article, we’ll explore why cloud careers in the UK are broadening, how these five disciplines intersect with cloud work, what it means for job-seekers & employers, and how to future-proof your career in this fast-changing sector.

Cloud Computing Team Structures Explained: Who Does What in a Modern Cloud Department

Cloud computing has transformed how organisations in the UK and worldwide design, deliver, and maintain their IT infrastructure. Whether it’s migrating on-premise workloads to the cloud, building cloud-native applications, or optimising for cost, performance, and security — organisations of all sizes need cloud teams with clearly defined roles. For someone applying for cloud computing jobs, or hiring for them, knowing who does what in a modern cloud department gives you an edge.
